Enrolled Nurse - Frail care

Our client, a Non-Profit Organization for the aged, is seeking a (Enrolled Nurse – frail care) for their facility, based in Port Elizabeth Central. The Registered Nurse is a member of the Health Care team and is responsible to plan and manage the wards under the direction and supervision of the Facility Manager/Sister Superior. You will be required to deliver competent, quality nursing care and adhere to the rules and regulations of the South African Nursing Council. Competencies Required – non-negotiable. • Excellent leadership, people skills and problem-solving skills. • Ability to be assertive when needed. • Fully bilingual. • Good English written and verbal communication. • Excellent telephone manner with an overall pleasant disposition. • Flexible work style. Key Performance Areas • Ensure a current plan of care for each resident according to the current resident needs and documented Policies & Procedures, as well as the updating thereof as the needs of the resident changes. • Report changes in resident’s care to the Nursing Services Manager, as well as documenting in the resident’s file. • Ongoing resident assessment, care plan and core evaluation. • Manage, order, check and supervise safe medication administration. • Ensure strict control of Schedule 5, 6 and 7 drugs. • Ensure the physical, social, and physiological well-being of residents which includes the regular monitoring of their health and treatment. • Perform the required nursing procedures which fall within the scope of a Professional Nurse/Registered Nurse. • Assist residents with their physical and mental health. • Ensure that there is strict control and documentation is recorded and kept in the event of accidents, incidents, and injuries on duty. • Ensure that the hygiene of the resident is maintained at highest level. • Manage, support, assist and supervise that allocated caregivers deliver the highest standard of care, on a shift – to shift – basis. • Assist staff with training and furthering their knowledge within their chosen field. • Assist and supervise caregivers with delivery of resident’s clinical care needs. • Maintain effective communication with all team leaders. • Monitors resident’s daily menu requirements to ensure dietary needs and preferences are communicated directly to the catering staff. • Participate in continuing professional development and compulsory education. • Promote independence and mobility of residents. • Counsel and advise residents and family. • Performs any other tasks as reasonably requested. Requirements: • Matric • Diploma in Nursing • Registration with SANC. • Proof of professional indemnity. • Certificate in Geriatric Nursing – highly advantageous. • Dementia experience essential • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar environment • Night Shift leader Salary: market related If you don’t hear from us within 3 weeks of your application, please consider your application unsuccessful.
