Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Development Manager at their head office in Midrand. The purpose of the position is to ensure that technical resources are effectively managed and directed towards meeting the strategic objectives and goals of the business.MinimumRequirements:Essential:Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate and a B. Comm, B.Eng., BSC Eng, BSC Informatics or related degree.Minimum 5 years of experience as an SAP ABAP developer.Advantageous:SAP certification5 – 8 years' experience in a similar roleDuties and Responsibilities:Technical Development Strategy:Ensure alignment of team skills with current and future technological and business requirements.Utilize Information Technology solutions to optimize cost management and enhance business profitability.Set and supervise target and budget goals, maintaining rigorous cost control across functional areas.Cultivate an IT service-oriented culture fostering relationships, innovation, and exceptional client service.Manage design, delivery, and ongoing improvement of solutions to enhance automation and innovation levels.Lead by example, setting coding standards and inspiring others to follow suit.Demonstrate proficiency in software development methodologies, effectively documenting and handing over solutions for support.Lead discussions on adopting new technologies and improving internal coding standards.Promote best practices and innovation through critical assessment and challenging of design assumptions.Project Management:Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, ensuring alignment with business expectations.Communicate effectively, willing to work overtime to meet project deadlines.Implement IT projects aligned with strategic objectives, utilizing specific performance metrics for progress tracking.Implement business improvements based on thorough data analysis and benchmarking.Oversee IT projects to ensure timely implementation and effectiveness.Prepare business cases for project and technology updates.Stakeholder Partnerships:Ensure stakeholders understand and are trained in the effective use of delivered solutions.Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, contributing to business requirements.Foster a conducive environment for software development and mentoring.Report on project deliverables to keep stakeholders informed and ensure deadlines are met.Cultivate objective relationships with stakeholders, providing input to business requirements.Team Management:Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to development standards.Mentor junior and intermediate developers, reviewing code and ensuring logical soundness.Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and performance management.Assist in setting objectives and tracking progress.Ensure efficient resolution of customer IT services within agreed timelines.Manage team leave and ad-hoc duties.Facilitate creation of accountable, full-service teams meeting stakeholder needs.Support peers through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching.Plan and manage team performance, skills development, diversity, talent, and culture.
