Duties/Pligte

  • Performing activities associated with the installation of water reticulation systems;
  • Performing activities and sequences associated with maintaining the functionality of water reticulation systems to domestic household, urban and/or industrial premises;
  • Cleaning worksites, storing equipment and tools and loading materials prior to departure from work site by removing and cleaning debris from tools and equipment;
  • Clearing blocked drainage and wastewater systems by using high pressure cleaning systems and hand tools to remove debris;
  • Placing and stacking tools / equipment in the vehicle, observing sequences and procedures to support safe transit;
  • If employed in the capacity as apprentice, learner plumber, operator, installer, or qualified plumber, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a complete set of quality plumbers' hand tools supplied to him/her by the employer;
  • Relations management :promoting and maintaining good working relations and partnerships with internal clients and contractors, as well as promoting the image of Facility Management both within and outside the University.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • At least three years' relevant construction and maintenance experience in the plumbing trade;
  • Basic knowledge to measure and understand building plans;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Proven communication skills in both Afrikaans and English;
  • An above-average ability to promote and maintain good human relations with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders;
  • The ability to motivate colleagues and inspire them to provide better service delivery;
  • The ability to function within a team;
  • A valid Code B driver's licence;
  • Willingness to work after hours;
  • The ability to work at heights;
  • Plumbing Trade Test Certificate will be advantageous, but is not a necessary requirement.
