Our client, who has international offices in Africa, Australia, Canada and the Philippines proudly delivers high quality professional engineering and project delivery services globally, across the mining and metals, infrastructure and process industries. They are seeking to employ a Procurement Officer, who will report to the Senior Procurement Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for purchasing, expediting, transport logistics, freight schedules, maintaining procedures and information reporting for large scale, international minerals processing projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform all dealings with clients, suppliers, manufacturers and freight company personnel professionally, ethically and efficiently, to ensure the highest possible service levels.
  • Communicate openly, professionally, ethically and efficiently at all times with all internal customers to ensure that the highest customer service level is achieved.
  • Adhere to the various project specific and company procedures, work practices, plans, systems and protocols required to work efficiently, and maintain a consistent approach and high standard of work.
  • Responsible and accountable for all expediting functions as directed by the Procurement & Logistics Manager and/or Senior Buyer/Procurement Officer.
  • Responsible and accountable for all logistics functions as directed by the Procurement & Logistics Manager and/or Senior Buyer/Procurement Officer.
  • Ensure all assigned purchasing processes are followed strictly in accordance with documented and authorised company procedures

Requirements :Qualification and Skill

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the procurement, expediting and/or logistics disciplines, in mining, minerals, engineering, or construction industries.
  • Proven experience working on international projects - Africa preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of international and local tendering and contract laws regulations and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of international freight laws, regulations and practices together with domestic transporting practices and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to own and prioritise.
  • Ability to work effectively with mínimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables, within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enjoyment in performing in an autonomous and collaborative work environment.
